  1. Good quality Review by DAVID H

    Just a quick review.
I've owned this torch for a couple of years and am just about to buy another as an Xmas present.
    Very good quality.
Long lasting battery means you are not forever having to crank the handle.
In fact just a minute or so of turning seems to generate an amazing amount of light...so the crank mechanism appears very efficient.
On high setting nice and bright.
    Robust design.
I like this torch a lot and I've owned others that are similar with which to compare.

  2. Superb, highly recomended Review by Graham - Durham

This essentially does what it says on the tin. It's an impressively bright LED torch.

This should be thought of as being a mains-rechargeable torch with a wind-up back up feature, ensuring you will never be caught without a light and won't need to cary spare batteries around with you. A good feature if you intend going out into the wilderness.

This has three LEDs. One powerful 1 watt LED in the centre with two less powerfull LEDs on each side. It has three lighting modes which come in sequence when you press the on button. First the low power beam mode which lights up the two LED's at the side and makes a soft beam, which is suitable for reading etc. Second the high power beam which lights up the 1 watt LED and makes a fairly powerful beam, powerfull enough to illuminate something 20 metres away. Thirdly there is the flashing mode which works with the high power beam, and is presumaby designed to be used as an emergency beacon.

I have not tested the waterproofing claims so cannot verify them, however, it looks well constructed.

This torch is a good choice for anyone going on a long camping trip etc. It is not the smallest or lightest torch, being slightly too large for pocket size. However as mentioned before, the wind-up feature ensures you will not need spare batteries, and it should stand up well to the elements.

  3. Shark Torch Review by Mark Bolton

took it to africa and it was used by the cook every night, very good torch, til i lost it, so bought another, then found original in base of fuse box! now wife has it in car, very reassuring. holds charge from mains for a long time, can recharge gadgets and winds up if all else fails, what more can you want, worth every penny. 4. Light the way Review by Mike Young

Bought for seventy-odd-year-old neighbour who has arthritis and cannot open torches to change batteries but needs a torch.Drop this and it will survive.Easy to order and quick to receive. (Posted on 23/05/2012)

  5. Good torch Review by Ian Johnson - Tenby

Ihis is quite a large torch, being around 7.0 inches long and almost 3 inches wide at the reflector end although it does fit in the hand, solidly made, it would put up with a few knock, it is also quite a heavy unit.

I do like the included wrist strap, a nice addition and very useful.

One thing which would be useful is a foldaway stand for the torch, maybe the manufacturers could change the design of the generator handle to be used both ways. Food for thought possibly. The generator handle is well made and wouldn't end up being left in your hand after charging, not that you would want to charge it for a long period as it it quite hard work, but fortunately there is a mains charger provided.

Battery seems excellent, i have only chraged it fully once since purchase.

One thing that is a slight negative in my opinion is the three position switch, i have had other torches with a flashing light but never ever used it, so it seems a bit pointless to me and makes for an additional press on the switch before you can turn the torch off, which annoys me slightly.

For a LED torch the beam is not bad but you cannot compare it to a filament bulb, for instance, if you have two objects one black and one white the beam will only pick out the white one and not the other, whereas a filament bulb will pick out both.
This is just due to the caracteristics of the led bulb which tends to produce an even light over a given area rather than a concentrated beam as with a filament bulb, but the manufacturers have designed the reflectors well so as to concentrate the beam of the bulbs as much as possible.
Using the light on the low setting is adequate for most purposes but if you are under the bonnet of the car on a dark wet night the second press of the switch does produce more than enough light to work with.
A good general purpose torch which most people would be very happy with.

  6. A good sturdy unit Review by Alfred - Wales

Bought for the brother in law for Christmas, he loves it. A good sturdy unit which is flexible and useful around the house. Would recommend it as a good general and useful torch to have. (Posted on 23/05/2012)
